On October 13 (Fri), a groundbreaking ceremony for Groundbreaking ceremony for a research vessel to replace the R/V Ieodo was held at Asia Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (Geoje City, Gyeongsangnam-do).

The event was attended by KIOST, Asia Shipbuilding, Korean Register, Korea Maritime Consultants Co., Ltd, and KmsEmec Co., Ltd.

The research vessel to replace the R/V Ieodo is a 740-ton medium-sized marine science research ship that will be completed in December 2024 and will carry out major national research projects in Korea's jurisdiction and local seas.
